Passenger rights on airlines

Air passenger rights apply:

  • if your flight is operated within the EU by an airline of an EU country or a non-EU country
  • if your flight arrives in the EU from a non-EU country and is operated by an EU country airline
  • if your flight departs from an EU country to a non-EU country and is operated by an EU or non-EU airline
  • if you have not already received assistance (compensation, transfer, assistance from the airline) for problems related to the flights of the particular trip under the relevant legislation outside the EU country.</li li. >

Travel from UK to EU country

From 1 January 2021 EU rules on air passenger rights do not apply to denied boarding, cancellations or delays toflights from the UK to the EU if the flight is operated by a UK carrier or another non-EU carrier , even if the flight was booked before that date. However, EU rules still apply from 1 January 2021 if the UK to EU flight is operated by an EU carrier, unless you have already received compensation or under UK law Basilio.

EU means the 27 countries of the EU, including Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Reunion, Mayotte, Saint Martin (French Antilles), Azores, Madeira and the Canary Islands (but not the Faroe Islands). EU rules also apply to flights to and from Iceland, Norway and Switzerland.
